I want to talk about gradual evolution. I was most impressed by the Questionnaire about Park Seo Bo. He gave an answer that felt like years of experience as an artist. He said our minds are continually evolving. If you do not change as an artist, you falter: you become an imitation of yourself. In other words, evolution should be gradual, he said. This riddle may be hard to understand, but it is said to have realized that continuous efforts will not fail. Through this process, the artist's practice is eventually synthesized with the artist's work.

It keeps reminding me of thoughts on Park Seo Bo's gradual evolution about his work and the work of an artist named Antoni Tàpies, an excellent example of gradual evolution he mentioned. It is not easy to evolve gradually as an artist and continue to study and show it. To do it progressively requires perseverance, thinking about it, and making steady efforts.

Park Seo Bo is a work of progressively changing, and there is a series of works by Ecriture. This work was inspired by the son's figure taking notes with a pencil and showed it. His series has continued to evolve with a variety of materials.

And Tàpies unleashed his entire repertoire of icons in these works: crosses, glasses, self-portrait, the body, the skull and bones, a chair, the landscape, letters, and numbers. All in all, a certain sadness, even a certain pessimism, reigns. However, it is not an allusion to pain in order to play the victim or to surrender to suffering, but to be aware thereof, to find ways to cope with and overcome it and, perhaps, in the face of everything, to achieve happiness. It is as though, aware of the passage of time, aging, illness, and death, Tàpies was keen to bequeath a living and artistic testament. Tàpies echoed these teachings, particularly from the 1980s and throughout the 1990s and 2000s, a period that provides the framework for the series of works featured in this exhibition.

I'd like to apply a gradual change to my work and show a combination of minimal and maximal. I like minimal and maximal sometimes. It depends on one's mood. Minimal is simple and Maximal likes to show as much as possible. So if you mix minimal and maximal and offer it as a gradual change, it will be fun.
